Stax was founded in 1938 in Japan and in 1960 they released their first electrostatic Headphone or ‘Earspeaker’ as they’re commonly referred to. Earspeakers are not affected by the acoustic characteristics of the listening room, standing wave or unwanted sound reflection, making them extremely accurate. The diaphragm being only several microns thick, offers excellent transient response. Over the last 50+ years Stax have released several designs making them the leaders in electrostic headphones and possibly the leaders in Hi-Fi headphones.
