About

Manual handling is any activity that requires the use of force exerted by a person to lift, carry, lower, push, pull, move or hold any item, including a person. It also includes work involving repetitive activities, sustained muscle exertion, and fixed postures. Injuries to Carer’s in healthcare, aged care, rehabilitation and disability services due to the handling of people are a major risk. However, these injuries are preventable. Please see below for assistive equipment that may help a Carer to reduce or eliminate the risk of injury from manual handling of patients.
