Then choose the TPI (teeth per inch) for the section you are cutting. As a rule of thumb, you want at least three teeth in the cut at all times, so use a finer pitch for thin wall, tube and small sections and a coarser pitch for large solid sections. Variable pitch blades, such as 3/4 or 4/6 TPI, run from a coarser to a finer pitch in the one blade.
