Lifting shackles connect slings, chain and rigging to the load and to the lifting point. Check the working load limit marked on the shackle against the load it will carry, including any angle in the sling legs, and choose the shackle with the capacity to match. Then choose the shape: a bow shackle has a wider rounded body that takes more than one sling leg or a sling at an angle, while a dee shackle has a narrower body and suits a straight, in-line pull. Screw pin shackles are quick to fit and remove. Safety pin shackles are listed for use where you want the pin held with a bolt, nut and split pin rather than relying on the thread alone.
