Choosing a retaining ring For a circlip, decide first whether it goes on a shaft (external) or in a bore (internal), then match the shaft or bore diameter in the product title and the groove it will sit in. Choose stainless steel where the part will be wet, washed down or outdoors. An E-clip is an open clip that fits onto a grooved shaft. Metric and imperial rings are not interchangeable, so measure before you order. A
