Choosing a ring spanner Start with the fastener size and the system, metric or imperial AF, and whether you need a single spanner or a set. Then choose the style: flat for straight access, offset where you need clearance over the fastener, or shallow offset where the title says so, and a ratcheting ring spanner where you want a ratcheting action. Check the piece count and the size range in the title of a set, and the point count where it is given, such as 12PT.
