About
Glass break detectors are used to "listen" for the sound of breaking glass. These devices are great protection for windows in a home or business and add an extra tier of protection when used with perimeter contacts and motion detectors. Glass break detectors activate when they hear the sound frequency of glass flexing before it breaks, and the glass breaking when it finally shatters. Glass break detectors, a few years ago were famous for setting off false alarms when someone did something as innocuous as dropping a metal baking sheet on the floor. Today's glass break detectors contain sound processing technology that only sets the detectors off if the actual sound of flexing, breaking glass is detected. Most glass break detectors listen for the breaking glass up to a 25-foot radius and will not listen through closed doors or walls. They can either be ceiling-mounted or wall-mounted. When selecting a glass break, most share similar technology, so the choice becomes mostly about aesthetics and mounting style. We offer 2 surface-mount glass break sensors you can select from, a flush-mount model, a recessed flush-mount model and one combination ceiling motion and glass break combo. The wiring for your glass break may determine which model would be your ideal option. For example, if your wiring is run to a single gang box, the standard flush-mount style would be optimal for covering the box. For surface-mount options, we have models from both Honeywell and DSC. The Honeywell FG1625 offers a more rounded appearance, but is easily the largest of the glass breaks we offer, which will make it stand out more than the rest. The FG1625 is able to detect glass breaking up to 25ft and covers all standard use glass types. The DSC AC100 , on the other hand, has a more angular appearance and is relatively small for a surface-mount style sensor. It is able to detect breakage in the most common types of glass you'll find, such as plate, tempered, wired, and laminate up to 25 ft. For t
