About

Motion detectors are sensors that detect movement in an installed area of a building. Some motion detectors are PIR (Passive infrared) only and some have a dual-lens which detects in both the PIR and Microwave ranges. There are also motion detectors that have pet immunity so your animals won't accidentally set them off. Whatever your situation, we have a motion detector suited to handle any job. Motion detectors offer movement detection across a large viewing area for your system. Standard motion detectors use passive infrared (PIR) to detect heat signatures within their viewing area; however, dual-technology motion detectors typically have a secondary microwave detection sensor, which focuses more on detecting physical motion. Dual-technology sensors significantly decrease the chances of false alarms triggered by ambient heat or movement. Motions are generally mounted on walls or in corners; however, some are designed to be ceiling-mounted. Most motion detectors offer pet immunity, which will make the motion ignore motion signatures based on the estimated "weight" of the object it is viewing. It is important to note that no ceiling-mounted motions include pet immunity due to their altered viewing angle. Motion sensors should not be pointed directly at windows or placed near ventilation due to the potential for false alarms. Motions also work best when the movement within their viewing area moves sideways rather than directly toward the motion. For this reason, motions are not ideal when placed in hallways or stairwells. Our current hardwired motion detector lineup consists of multiple detectors from both DSC and Honeywell. The first of which is the DSC LC-100 . This cost-effective PIR motion detector is a viable option for almost all standard scenarios. The LC-100 offers a maximum detection range of up to 45ft and offers pet immunity up to 55lbs. Similarly, the Honeywell IS335 is another cost-effective PIR-only motion. The IS335 offers a 40ft maximum range along wi
