Here you will find our smallest diameter bars - up to 2" (or square rod, as it is often referred to). This aluminium product can be ordered with us in two different alloy grades. The alloy grade is what describes the chemical composition. With additions of chemicals such as manganese, silicon or magnesium to this raw material, the structure of the aluminium changes and in most cases it can improve it's characteristics such as increased strength, formability or machinability. Our highest strength aluminium square bar is graded 6082T6. It's known in the metal industry as a 'structural alloy.' As a solid bar it can provide considerable strength and durability. This would serve well in structural fabrications, building material, renovation projects and general assembly. 6082T6 material is also good for machining and welding. We also stock aluminium bar (or square rod) in 6060. This is a medium strength alloy suitable for architectural sections.
