The two flat surfaces join at a 90° angle to form an L shape. The vertical and horizontal extension of the stainless steel angle gives it strength in two directions. This structural shape serves well in both construction and building industries. How does stainless steel compare to steel metal? Stainless steel alloys contain additional elements such as molybdenum, nickel, titanium, aluminium, copper, nitrogen, phosphorous or selenium. The main advantage stainless steel alloys have is their resilience. Stainless steel can withstand much more time and abuse before showing signs of wear. Without these alloying elements, the iron in the steel would be prone to cause oxidisation, rust, and staining. Martensitic steel grades are the hardest and strongest, used for engineering applications, however, our austenitic steel grades also have high tensile strength. Mild steel is a general purpose steel. It has mechanical properties that make it particularly suited for structural applications, however it does not contain large amounts of either nickel or chromium, and therefore lacks corrosion resistance.
