Barber Dimes are a fascinating part of American numismatic history. First minted in 1892, the Barber Dime is named after its designer, Charles E. Barber, and features Lady Liberty on the obverse with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. The reverse depicts an eagle with outstretched wings perched on an olive branch and arrows, with the words "One Dime" and "United States of America" inscribed. These dimes were produced until 1916, when they were replaced by the Mercury Dime. Each Barber Dime is made of 90% silver and 10% copper, with a total weight of 2.5 grams or 0.0804 troy ounces. The coins are 17.9 mm in diameter and have a thickness of 1.35 mm. With their unique design and historical significance, Barber Dimes are a popular choice for both coin collectors.
