About

A baby health kit is the shopping you want done before you need it. None of it is exciting, and all of it is the sort of thing you go looking for at two in the morning on the night you discover you do not own one. The Things You Reach For at Night A thermometer is the first item on the list, and the type matters. Infrared forehead and ear models give a reading in seconds without waking a sleeping baby, which is the whole point when you are checking a temperature at midnight. A nasal aspirator is the second, and the one parents are most surprised to find themselves grateful for. A young baby cannot blow their nose and breathes through it while feeding, so clearing a blocked nose is often what gets a feed and a sleep back on track. Grooming Small Fingers and Soft Scalps Newborn nails grow quickly and are sharp enough to scratch a face overnight, but they are also soft and attached close to the skin. A baby grooming kit uses rounded scissors, small clippers and a file made for that job rather than a scaled-down adult one. Scalp care is the other regular task. A soft brush and comb set works through cradle cap gently, and a purpose-made brush lifts flakes without dragging at the skin underneath. Doing it after a bath, when everything has softened, makes it easier on both of you. Skin, and Knowing When to Ask Newborn skin is thinner than adult skin and reacts to almost everything, so a simple barrier cream and a fragrance-free moisturiser cover most of what comes up in the first months. Nappy rash and dry patches are common and usually settle with the basics rather than anything elaborate. Nothing in a home kit replaces medical advice. A thermometer tells you there is a fever, not what is causing it, and a high temperature in a baby under three months is a reason to call your doctor or health line rather than to manage at home. The kit is for information and comfort, not diagnosis. Shop Baby Health by Category Most parents build this kit up a piece at a time rather than
