About
Childproofing a bedroom or nursery In a bedroom, the jobs are the window, the drawers and the furniture corners. A window restrictor stops the window at a gap you choose, so the room gets air but the window opens no further, and it sticks to the frame with no drilling. Magnetic locks fit inside drawers and cupboards, out of sight, and open only when you hold the key over them, and the safety straps take any drawer or door a hidden lock can't line up with. Clear corner protectors soften bedside tables and chests at head height, and a door handle lock keeps a toddler out of rooms you'd rather they didn't wander into. The straps keep drawers and doors shut, but they aren't wall anchors: for a chest of drawers, bookcase or wardrobe a child could pull over, use an anti-tip kit fixed to the wall. Tie blind and curtain cords up high, out of reach, as looped cords are a strangulation risk.
