About
A living room floor has to work harder than most, standing up to daily life while still looking good enough to build the rest of the room around. Stone effect, wood effect and large plain porcelain are the choices our customers return to most often, each one giving you a calm, low maintenance base that suits both a classic living room and something more contemporary. Large format tiles are especially good at framing an open-plan space, letting furniture and soft furnishings provide the colour and pattern instead. Around a fireplace or hearth, the opposite tends to work best: small decorative pieces, mosaic, brick-shaped tiles or a patterned design bring a sense of craft to a focal point that deserves the extra attention. The same decorative tiles also do well on a feature wall elsewhere in the room, if you want a second point of interest. If you are torn between a plain floor and something with more pattern, think about how the room is used day to day. A busy family living room usually benefits from the calmer option, while a room used mainly in the evenings can carry a bolder choice beautifully.
