Red Tiles

About

Red does not do subtle, and that is rather the point. It is a bold, confident colour with a long history in both period and regional design, and it still holds its own in a completely modern interior when used with a bit of restraint. Used as a block of colour, red makes a strong statement on a splashback or a feature wall in a kitchen, while a smaller dose around a fireplace surround adds warmth and presence without taking over the whole room. It is a colour best used with intention rather than scattered throughout a scheme, so pick one spot for it to really shine and let quieter tones handle the rest of the space. A gloss finish pushes the colour towards something more glamorous, while a matt surface keeps it feeling grounded and closer to its traditional roots.
