About

A greatsword is a true two-hander: a blade long and heavy enough that both hands belong on the grip. Carried from the late medieval period through the Renaissance, it out-reaches every one-handed sword on the field, and on a wall it anchors the room. Every greatsword here is hand-forged in 1095 high-carbon or pattern-welded Damascus steel. Specifications vary by design, so check each product page for its listed steel, hardness, construction and dimensions. Most designs can be engraved or built to order in our custom builder. Choosing a greatsword The German branch of the family has its own zweihander collection , the Scottish branch its claymore collection , and the novelty-scale pieces live under giant swords . For the whole two-handed family side by side, see two-handed swords , or browse all of our swords .
