In 1998 a new option of Cultured pearls was introduced to the pearl lovers around the world: the Faceted Culture Pearl. These pearls can have up to 200 facets and can vary in size and shape. They offer an alternative to the smooth surface pearls that we have grown to love. In the beginning only the finest quality pearls were selected for faceting but now all sizes, colors and shapes are faceted. It took the Japanese over 2 decades to master the process of faceting pearls using the same cutting equipment that is used to facete gemstones.
