About
Sweet Dreams is an exhibition of new paintings by Alex Garant . They serve as a transitional phase from her familiar duplication of elements to almost abstract, more complex compositions. Opening reception: Saturday, April 24th, 6pm - 9pm. This exhibition will run from April 25th to May 16th and will coincide with the group show Lucid 2021 . The paintings feature pastel tones based on the late evening sky observed through the studio windows and character navigating between innocence and complicity. Alex Garant (Canada), Queen of Double Eyes, studied visual arts at Notre-Dame–De-Foy College. After graduating in 2001, she settled in Toronto. A heart attack in 2012 was the catalyst for her decision to commit to her art. Her alla prima oil paintings combine traditional portrait techniques with a graphic quality. Her work is known for image superposition, symmetry, patterns, and duplication of elements.
