Allen Williams - Under the World

Under the World is a new exhibition of drawings and paintings by Allen Williams . This show asks the viewer to traverse well-hidden territories, those things and places that lie beneath. Opening reception: Saturday, August 19th, 6 - 9pm . Drinks will be provided by our friends at Jetty Road Brewery and Malocchio. This exhibition will run from Aug 20th - Sep 10th and will coincide with Meagan “Magpie” Rodgers' In a Fog , Dos Diablos' The Empire of the Innocent and group show Utopia | Dystopia . Within this collection are enigmatic creatures and beings inspired by a fascination with the structures of mortality, sometimes mortality in decay, revealing a truth that is confrontational. The viewer is invited to see the beauty within the grotesque and hold those things to be of equal merit: one is pointless without the other. There are no monsters here, only metaphor. So come turn over the stone and see what lives there. Allen Williams is an internationally known artist who has provided illustrations for games and book covers as well as concept work for television and films. For his personal artwork, he looks to his environment for inspiration, inviting viewers to form their own associations with his work. He works primarily with oils, gouache and graphite.
