About

Aof Smith's Unrevealed Traits explores the hidden emotional and psychological states that exist within all of us. These are not always clinical disorders, but shifting inner conditions—fear, anger, sadness, pressure—that often remain unspoken, yet subtly reveal themselves through the body. Opening reception: Saturday, July 19th, 5 - 8 pm. Drinks will be provided by our friends at Stomping Ground Brewing Co., Fin Wines and Cré Wines. This exhibition will run from July 20th- August 10th 2025, and will coincide with Tokyo Jesus' Eternal Memories , Hannakin's Dream You Sprouts , and Caroline Dewison's A Fantastic Journey . The figures in Smith's work are not portraits of specific people, but visual reflections of these inner traits. Their distorted faces, fragile postures, and unsettled gestures act as silent expressions, giving form to feelings that cannot always be put into words. It can be found in the way we interact with others, and in the way others treat us: through judgment, rejection, bullying, and neglect—even from those closest to us'. This series is a conversation with those echoes and an acknowledgment of the scars they leave. It responds to the silent weight we bear and the unvoiced struggles we suppress. By revealing what is usually concealed, the work attempts to make visible what we are conditioned to hide. Unrevealed Traits are not about correction or cure. Rather, it is an invitation to witness and understand the fragility we all possess—because sometimes, the most telling parts of us are the ones left unspoken.
