Instant coffee is made by freeze drying pre-brewed filter coffee to make it soluble in water and is not freshly roasted. The packaging process gives it a longer shelf-life so it can be stored in supermarkets for longer. While convenient to prepare, instant coffee is not fresh and lacks the flavour and unique characteristics that you can taste in brewed coffee.
