About

Commissioned in the latter half of the 19th Century by Count Albert Apponyi , Herend's ' Apponyi' still remains one of the most iconic porcelain dinner services in history. The timeless pattern was adapted from an earlier Herend décor for the Count, who r equested that the dominant motif of the “Indian Flower Basket” design be enlarged and simplified. The result is a dinner service that merges together oriental exoticism and the era's bourgeois poise. Each piece in the collection is handmade and hand-painted in Hungary to this day, featuring intricate floral patterns and gracefully bending leaves surrounded by a stylised edge detailed in 24 karat gold.
