About

Jane Austen Books Jane Austen is a world-renowned author and a pioneer of literature and paved the way for generations of authors, in particular female authors. Austen was born in Hampshire, England, in 1775 and is primarily known for her six key novels: Pride and Prejudice , Sense and Sensibility, Emma , Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion . wo of these books were published after her death. Austen had a short life, but her legacy and the impact she made on literature have changed the course of history. All of her novels contain heavy criticism of high society at the time and the expectations of women. Austen regularly wrote about the expectations of marriage and the demand for women to be married by a certain age. Jane Austen herself never married but was able to live independently on the profits earned from her writing, so she didn’t need to.
