A fixed panel works every day without being thought about. Monocrystalline panels from a 10W maintenance trickle up to 300W roof arrays, some supplied as kits with a regulator and leads, for caravans, vans and canopies where the roof is doing nothing else. Rated watts are a laboratory number. Real output depends on angle, heat and how clean the glass is, so a 200W panel flat on a roof in an Australian summer will not make 200W — plan for roughly 70 percent and size the array accordingly. Panel dimensions are listed because roof space, not budget, is usually the limit.
