About

Royal Canin sorts its canine range by adult body weight first, because kibble shape, calorie density and mineral levels all change with size. Five tiers, by Royal Canin's own definitions: X-Small under 4kg, Mini 1 to 10kg, Medium 11 to 25kg, Maxi 26 to 44kg and Giant 45kg and over. Senior starts earlier for bigger dogs There is no single senior age. Maxi Adult 5+ begins at five years, Medium Adult 7+ at seven and Mini Adult 8+ at eight, with Mini Ageing and X-Small Ageing 12+ beyond that. Larger dogs age sooner, so their senior diet starts sooner. The care ranges Digestive Care : Mini, Medium, Maxi and a wet Dermacomfort : Mini, Medium, Maxi and a wet loaf, for itchy skin and dull coat Light Weight Care : Mini, Medium, Maxi and a wet Joint Care Maxi : for large frames Relax Care : Mini dry and a wet Exigent Mini dry and Exigent wet, for dogs that walk away from the bowl Wet food and toppers Pouches run in Mini, Medium and Maxi across puppy and adult, plus Mini Ageing. Chihuahua, Dachshund, Poodle, Pomeranian and Yorkshire Terrier have breed-specific wet. A pouch spooned over kibble is the usual way to restart a dog that has gone off dry food. Bag sizes The largest bag stocked is 15kg ; there is no 20kg. Medium Adult also comes in 10kg, Mini Puppy goes down to 800g, and the breed formulas run 1.5kg or 3kg for small breeds and 12kg for large ones. Every size is priced separately on the product. Not stocked: Veterinary Diet , including Hypoallergenic, Gastrointestinal and Urinary, which are dispensed through veterinary practices. See also the breed formulas and Maxi and Giant adult .
