Accoya Wood Decking is modified wood decking which have been modified by a patented process called acetylation. This chemical modification enhances the natural properties of the wood, making it more durable and dimensionally stable than untreated timber. How is Accoya Made? Accoya wood is modified by a process called acetylation, in which acetic anhydride is introduced into the wood cells. This treatment alters the molecular structure of the wood, making it: More resistant to rot and decay Less likely to warp and swell. More dimensionally stable Resistant to insect attack The process is non-toxic and doesn't involve the use of harmful chemicals. The wood is FSC-certified, meaning it comes from responsibly managed, fast-growing forests. Key Features of Accoya Decking Durability: Accoya resists rot, major cracks, and insect damage.
