About
The 90-rated 5 Vegas Classic cigars, also known as "5 Vegas Red Label" are among the brand's best-selling blends. It is also the smoke that started it all for 5 Vegas, founded by late cigar industry legend Henry "Kiki" Berger and a handful of friends. Kiki comes from a multi-generation cigar family, so it is only fitting that he entrusted 5 Vegas to another multi-generation cigar family—the incredibly reliable and widely celebrated Plasencia family. It also doesn't hurt that they are the largest tobacco growers in Nicaragua and perhaps the entire cigar-growing world. That kind of dedication all but ensures they chose the best guardians for the 5 Vegas line. But the aptly named 5 Vegas Classic cigars hail from an era when 5 Vegas was still in the hands of Kiki and friends. Let's get up close and personal with this classic and see what drives its long-lasting success. At the core of this cigar is a Cuban-seed long-filler blend of Nicaraguan Habano and Dominican tobaccos. Surrounding this mix is a Nicaraguan binder and a dark oiled-out flavor-packed Sumatra wrapper. This leaf is gorgeous with few veins. The overall construction of 5 Vegas Classic cigars is excellent. Once lit, tobacco flavors are the first to arrive, along with a bit of spice and toast. The smoke output is impressive and relaxing. We smoke a little further down, and the spice is still there, though not revving up as we expected. Cocoa, nuts, and coffee notes are now quite prominent. As things come to a close, the spice refuses to die, and the coffee and nuts are going strong. All in all, a fantastic cigar that we were sad to see come to an end. Please enjoy 5 Vegas Classic cigars at your leisure.
