Now, you can bring the golden light with you. The late Henry "Kiki" Berger was well known, well-liked, and highly celebrated in the cigar industry. The son of a Cuban cigar maker, Kiki absorbed the lessons of his father both in the fields of pre-communist Cuba and later while rolling cigars alongside his family in their Miami garage. Before his death during the cigar boom of the 1990s, Kiki's father encouraged him to secure quality tobacco in Nicaragua. At the time, due to the boom, prices were sky high, and cigar manufacturers grappled with finding a good product. Kiki took his father’s advice, and with the new product secure, Kiki and a group of friends founded World Cigars and began producing 5 Vegas Cigars. Eventually, Nestor Plasencia and their family were handed the reigns of the 5 Vegas brand. Nestor Plasencia was the man behind the best-selling 5 Vegas Gold line, but to celebrate this anniversary, they brought in another cigar industry master blender, Nick Perdomo, to collaborate on and produce 5 Vegas Gold Anniversary cigars. Nick Perdomo is the man behind Perdomo 10th Anniversary Champagne Cigars and the Perdomo Lot 23, which both make nice work of the Connecticut shade wrapper, so it’s exciting to see what he can do with this Connecticut stick. 5 Vegas Gold Anniversary cigars are produced at Perdomo's Nicaraguan factory, known locally as "El Monstro." The facility is said to be the second-largest cigar manufacturing operation in Nicaragua. These cigars feature a golden, nearly seamless Connecticut shade wrapper. An aged blend of Nicaraguan long-fillers contributes some spice to this otherwise mild cigar. Once burning, this golden number delivers flavors of leather, wood, spice, and toast.
