About

Cigar companies and best-selling brands don’t just appear out of nowhere. When the leading names of a new generation emerge, often with some minor digging, we can uncover established names that helped them along the way. Erik Espinosa worked in various cigar industry positions from sales manager to retail shop owner to cigar manufacturer. He's worked with names like Drew Estate, Rocky Patel, and more. In fact, the 601 brands were originally blended and manufactured for Espinosa’s old company by Don "Pepin" García. A.J. Fernandez now produces 601 Red Label Habano cigars for Espinosa at his San Lotano factory in Nicaragua. Many say 601 Red Label Habano cigars are the best of the 601 brands. The draw, the burn, the flavors, and the aftertaste perform what seems to be a perfect balance for the palate. 601 Red Label Habano cigars feature an oily Nicaraguan Habano wrapper and an aggressive blend of aged Nicaraguan long-fillers. The presentation is excellent, with minimal veins and no visible seams. Once lit, we’re getting huge clouds of satisfying smoke laced with pepper, spice, cinnamon, cedar, and cream. About halfway through and everything is nicely balanced with the spice picking up along with the cream flavor. The creaminess of the smoke is smooth to the point of stealing the show. With the addition of a leather flavor here and a sweet one there, the flavor profile has remained delightfully consistent throughout. This is one cigar to write home about. Please enjoy 601 Red Label Habano cigars at your leisure.
