You won’t get ghosted when you fall in love with the Aganorsa Leaf Rare Leaf Reserve cigar. The company has committed to trying to make this exclusive, high-quality blend available year-round. They’re using some of their best tobacco, but dripping out supply to select retailers (like us!) only to ensure that inventory will last. Only time will tell if this gets the job done. But for now, we’re focused on enjoying this tasty blend. Aganorsa Leaf, as you might imagine, is a company obsessed with growing great tobacco. It’s right there in the name. And this Rare Leaf Reserve blend showcases their signature varietal, Nicaraguan corojo 99, which you’ll find in pretty much every stogie they roll. This is combined with some Nicaraguan criollo 98, and the roll is finished with a beautiful chocolatey brown wrapper that Aganorsa calls “Nicaragua Café”. It’s grown in Jalapa and brings fine flavor to the cigar. Once you get the first draw going, you’ll notice a bit of spice. This rides on waves of cedar and earth. Barnyard aromas keep things interesting, while a syrupy sweetness finishes everything off. It’s a nice experience that is on par with what you expect from Aganorsa. It also gets better the further you go into the stick, so be sure to set aside enough time to properly enjoy the cigar. We’re not sure where Aganorsa’s best leaf truly shows up. They’ve created enough premium blends that we’re torn between which ones to recommend. All we can say is that this one definitely belongs in the family. Select leaf for a select smoke.
