AJ Fernandez has taken his blending talents in an ambitious new direction with this, his first smoke to feature a Cameroon wrapper. The AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon cigar was named to recall the first explorers who reached the western hemisphere from Europe. The Cameroon wrapper on this cigar is unlike some of the oily, buttery leaves you might be used to. Instead, it’s rough, dry, and delicate. Smoking Cameroon tobacco is a different kind of experience, one typically led by notes of fragrant wood, which is true in this case. The flavor profile brought on in combination with the Nicaraguan filler blend includes toasted wood, creamy almond, and white pepper. This particular vitola is a torpedo that’s 6.5 inches long and has a ring gauge of 52. You may also know the shape as a “pyramid” – one that tapers at the head, which cuts down the draw and concentrates the flavor a bit for a slower, more intense smoking experience.
