About
The art of winemaking inspires Alfonso Extra Anejo cigars. “Cedar is to cigars as oak is to wine,” said company founder Nelson Alfonso. In the case of this blend, however, the aging vaults contain both woods. The company has already aged its core blend line for two to three years. The Extra Anejo is an attempt to draw out the process more to produce a finer smoking experience. It doesn’t go as far as the ten-year Extra Aged blend produced by Atabey (another brand created by Nelson Alfonso), but it finds a mark between them. Mr. Alfonso expresses his hope by saying, “The years we take to age the cigars in this process have a purpose, and we hope this is appreciated in the smoke.” The Alfonso Extra Anejo blend is constructed along similar lines that are the specialty of the blending team: the Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper and the Nicaraguan and Peruvian long-filler blend. The sticks are buttery smooth and smoke up with a beautiful pepper and caramel combo from the get-go, besides filling out a complex and highly enjoyable blend of cedar, bread, and many other notes. It is nutty and sweet, with plenty of facets to taste for as you draw out lush plumes of thick, white smoke. It's a pricey cigar for a company still building its reputation. Still, it hits the mark as a fantastic, high-end experience that will surprise people who get their hands on it. The Alfonso artisans knew what they created, and now it’s up to the rest of the world to catch up! Please browse our selection of Alfonso Extra Anejo cigars at your leisure.
