Arturo Fuente began making cigars in Cuba prior to the revolution, and then was forced from the country when his growing business was nationalized. In the Dominican Republic he found soils and a climate that he instinctively knew could produce very high quality tobaccos, and went to work to rebuild all he had lost. His efforts exceeded his expectations, and when son Carlos entered the picture, father passed on to son his vast wealth of knowledge about the fine art of cigar making. Carlos walked fields with his father, inspected crops, oversaw aging and production, and started sampling the finished product well before he started shaving! In other words, Carlos Fuente was born and bred to produce great cigars. Indeed, his ongoing string of top-quality product has earned him a place in the pantheon of the finest cigar makers of all time. When the time was right, Carlos Fuente, at the urging of son Carlos, Jr., decided to put his signature to a line of cigars. His love for vintage, rare tobaccos was the chief determinant of what leaves would make the core of the line. Over the years, Don Carlos would hold back quantities of tobaccos he found especially appealing, set aside for the day when they would be blended to create a perfectly crafted vintage smoke. The blend finally settled upon boasts a complex variety of flavors, perfectly matched, to create a robust, medium-bodied palate that every cigar lover will appreciate.
