KOTOBUKIYA Company started as a doll toy store operated by Jusaburo Shimizu in 1947. In 1951, he recreated his sole ownership in a limited liability company, along with his two brothers. What really sets KOTOBUKIYA apart from other model kit manufacturers was the acquisition of the model kit license for Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam - the first time that a company other than Bandai was able to launch Gundam products!
