An isolator switch is a manually-operated switch-disconnector that breaks all phase + neutral conductors to fully isolate a circuit for safe maintenance — built to IEC 60947-3 for switch-disconnectors. Unlike an MCB / MCCB which trips automatically on fault, an isolator's primary job is visible mechanical disconnection.
