About
Ipe wood, Tabebuia avellanedae, is also called Pau D'arco, Brazilian Ironwood, and Iron Bark. It is a lustrous brown color that ages to dark brown with a greenish tinge. The appearance is similar to Greenheart from Suriname, but the grain is finer and denser. Averaging 70 pounds per square foot, this is a very durable hardwood that takes a smooth, high polish. This wood cannot ship outside of the USA.
