Trolleite Crystal Trolleite is a rare aluminum phosphate mineral (Al4(PO4)3(OH)3) with a distinctive dusty blue to blue-green color. It was named after Swedish chemist Hans Gabriel Trolle-Wachtmeister, who first identified the mineral in the 19th century. Trolleite has a Mohs hardness of 8, making it one of the harder collector minerals — tougher than most stones in a typical crystal collection. Most commercial trolleite specimens come from Minas Gerais, Brazil, where the mineral occurs embedded in quartz matrix. The original type locality is Västanå, Sweden.
