History of EarthQuaker Devices EarthQuaker Devices was founded in 2004 by Jamie Stillman in his basement in West Akron, Ohio. The company began as a personal experiment, with Stillman teaching himself electronics and refining circuits, famously building dozens of fuzz pedals before perfecting his design. As interest in his pedals grew, the brand steadily expanded beyond its DIY roots. Over the years, the brand evolved into a full-scale operation while maintaining its commitment to hand-built quality and original designs. By 2019, the company had grown to around 50 employees and moved into a 15,000-square-foot facility on Bowery Street in Akron, where all pedals are still manufactured.
