About

Outdoor heating extends the season. In most New Zealand homes the deck stops being used somewhere in April and does not come back until November, and a heater is what closes that gap. We stock two brands, and the difference between them is mounting and fuel. Bromic The Platinum Smart-Heat runs on electricity and mounts to a wall or ceiling, with a marine variant for coastal and waterfront installations. The Tungsten is available as an electric unit or a portable gas heater with adjustable directional heat covering up to 20 square metres, which suits spaces where a fixed installation is not practical. The Eclipse Pendant hangs, with dimmable LED lighting and wireless control, and there is a portable Eclipse for the same reason as the portable Tungsten. Recess kits are available for flush ceiling installation, along with dimmer and on/off remotes. Heatscope Infrared carbon heaters in 2800W, 3000W and 3200W. They mount to walls or ceilings and are designed for semi-open, well-covered spaces — patios, balconies, verandas. Infrared heats objects and people rather than the air, so it works where a conventional heater would lose its output to the breeze. Choosing between them Electric units need a power supply and suit permanent installations. Gas units move. Infrared works better in covered but open-sided spaces where warm air escapes. If the area is coastal, the marine-rated Bromic Platinum is specified for salt exposure. Delivered anywhere in New Zealand. If you are unsure which output suits your space, call 0800 468 836 and describe the area — coverage depends on ceiling height, how enclosed it is, and how much wind it gets.
