The ACE 300 is one of the most sensible first detectors anybody can buy. It has enough control to teach you something without a menu system that gets in the way: adjustable sensitivity, notch discrimination, a digital target ID and the iron audio that helps you learn what a nail actually sounds like. It is light, the battery lasts, and the coil is waterproof even though the control box is not. For parks, pasture and dry sand it will find plenty while you work out what you enjoy hunting.
