Andre's restoration pencils are the tool of choice for a lot of relic hunters who do not trust themselves with chemicals. Each pencil holds a bundle of fine fibers, fiberglass, brass or steel wool depending on how aggressive you need to be, and you work the corrosion off in controlled strokes rather than dissolving it and hoping. Start with the softest that will do the job. The complete set gives you the full range so you are not committing a good find to the wrong abrasive just because it is the only one on the bench.
