This is entry-level territory, and it is honestly a lot better than it was ten years ago. Under $200 you will find capable starter machines for kids, holiday hunting and working out whether the hobby sticks, with preset modes, basic discrimination and enough depth for parks and dry sand. Do not expect much in wet salt or mineralized ground. If you already know you are serious, we would suggest stretching into the $200 to $500 band, where waterproof coils and proper target ID become standard.
