The Gold Monster 1000 is the machine that makes nugget hunting approachable. It runs at 45 kHz, which is where sub-gram gold responds, and it ground balances and adjusts sensitivity automatically, so you are not learning prospecting and detector tuning at the same time. Both DD and mono coils are available for it, covering trashy or mineralized patches and open ground. In genuinely severe mineralization you will eventually want pulse induction, but for most goldfields this finds far more than its price suggests.
