For low-drain bits like clocks and remotes, a cheap alkaline pack is the sensible buy. Mix both, most offices do. Buying tip: a 24-pack of Coppertop AA costs a fair bit less per battery than grabbing 2-packs as you run out. If you go through them, buy the carton.
