The slat platform sits on a gas-lift mechanism that allows the entire top section, mattress and all, to hinge upward and stay open while you access the storage underneath. The gas pistons hold the platform open without you having to support any weight, so both hands are free to load and unload. The compartment runs the full floor plan of the bed, so on a king-size you're looking at around 160 cm wide and over 210 cm long of usable space. The Chesterfield Ottoman Storage Bed is upholstered in plush velvet with deep diamond-button tufting on both the headboard and the scrolled footboard. It's the only frame in this collection that uses a side-lift mechanism, and it comes in the widest size range, from single (3ft) through to king. The Vellure Ottoman Storage Bed is in velvet upholstery , with a contemporary V-shaped chevron channel-stitch design on a tall 140 cm headboard, available in double and king in four colourways including blue.
