Why Use Dedicated Detailing Brushes? A microfibre cloth is great on flat panels, but it bridges over gaps rather than getting into them. Badges, vents, grilles, door shuts, wheel barrels and trim seams all hold dirt that needs something smaller and more precise to shift it safely. The short version: soft bristles for anything delicate or painted, stiff bristles for anything textured or heavily soiled, and long-reach brushes for anywhere your hand won't fit. Always check the bristle type before use on a surface you're unsure about, and test a small area first if you're working somewhere delicate. Rinse your brushes out as you go — trapped grit is what marks paintwork, not the bristles.
