About
Big Band is a style of jazz music that emerged in the 1920s and 1930s and is characterized by large bands composed of brass, woodwinds, and percussion instruments. It is also known for its swing-style rhythms, improvisation, and a range of musical textures. The style was popularized by Duke Ellington , Count Basie , and Benny Goodman , among others. Big Band music was a major influence on the development of other jazz styles, such as bebop and fusion. It also had a significant influence on popular music, with many of its tunes becoming staples in the jazz canon.
