About

Organic Products Online in India — NPOP Certified Sourcing "Organic" is one of the few claims on an Indian label that can actually be verified. Under FSSAI rules, organic food sold in India must be certified under NPOP (National Programme for Organic Production) or PGS-India, and carry the Jaivik Bharat mark with a traceable certification number. What to check before you buy Look for the certification number, not just the word organic. NPOP covers farming without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers and prohibits GMO inputs. Organic is a farming standard, not a nutrition claim. It tells you how the crop was grown — it does not by itself mean lower sugar, higher protein or fewer calories. Read the nutrition panel separately. Cold-pressed and wood-pressed oils retain more aroma but oxidise faster. Buy a size you will finish in two to three months and keep it away from the stove. Whole grains and flours without preservatives have shorter shelf lives. Check the manufacture date, and store flour airtight. Personal care is not covered by NPOP food certification — an "organic" face oil is making a different, weaker claim than organic dal. Read the ingredient list. The vendor certifications we have independently verified, including Ecotyl's NPOP organic sourcing, are listed on our vendor certifications page. Related: organic grocery , superfoods and Ecotyl .
