Lacquer Systems

About
This collection brings together the water-based polyurethane lacquer systems EcoGrit stocks for sanded timber floors: primers and sealers, 1-component (1K) and 2-component (2K) topcoats, and the fillers that complete the build. Most of the range is Berger-Seidle AquaSeal , made in Germany and grouped in our AquaSeal water-based systems , with a Ciranova option alongside. It suits floor sanders and confident DIY renovators finishing Australian hardwoods, where a fast-drying, non-yellowing film that copes with humidity and daily traffic matters. Choosing a system comes down to three decisions: 1K or 2K, the sheen you want, and the primer plus topcoat build. Dense, oily species such as spotted gum and blackbutt can bleed tannin, so the right sealer or primer matters as much as the lacquer over it. Our water-based versus solvent lacquer guide covers the trade-offs. How to choose 1K or 2K: 1K lacquers such as AquaSeal GreenStar and AquaSeal SmartHome suit standard homes and faster turnaround; a 2K system with hardener adds chemical and abrasion resistance for kitchens, retail and high-traffic floors. See 1K vs 2K . Sheen: matt and ultra-matt read most natural and hide fine scuffs; satin is the popular all-rounder; gloss lifts the grain but shows every mark. Primer and build: lay a compatible primer such as AquaSeal FlexPrimer , then two to three topcoats, sanding lightly between coats. Tannin-rich species: an isolating primer stops bleed and picture-framing on dense hardwoods. Frequently asked questions Do I need a primer or sealer under water-based lacquer? Yes. A primer or sealer promotes adhesion, evens out absorption, sets the colour tone and blocks tannin bleed on species like blackbutt and spotted gum. Coating straight onto bare timber risks poor adhesion and patchy sheen. Should I choose 1K or 2K lacquer? Choose 1K for standard residential floors where speed and simplicity matter. Choose 2K, which mixes a hardener before use, for kitchens, hallways, retail and any
