It’s a brutal, efficient design, a heavy axe blade, a spike, and a hook on a long pole, created to level the playing field between foot soldiers and knights. For centuries, this was the primary tool for breaking a formation. It gave you the leverage to chop through defenses, stop a cavalry charge, or simply hook a rider and drag them to the ground. The Lineup: Bardiches, Fauchards, and Halberds While "Halberd" is often used as a blanket term for anything with an axe head on a stick, there are actually distinct historical differences depending on the job. We’ve built our collection to cover these specific tools of the trade, so you can pick the one that matches your fighting style. The Halberd & Poleaxe: The classic multi-tool. You get an axe or hammer head for swinging and a spike for thrusting. In a game, the back-spike or the "beard" of the axe is incredibly useful. You can hook the rim of a shield and pull it open just enough for your teammate to land a hit. The Bardiche: This is for when you want a massive silhouette. It’s essentially a giant, elongated axe blade mounted on a pole. It looks terrifying on the field and fits perfectly with characters inspired by Eastern European history or heavy shock troops.
